Inos still lt. governor

It turned out that it was the lt. governor’s daughter Kaye who resigned as DPS finance and administrative officer.

“I’ve received calls…and I dismiss all [these] rumors,” Press Secretary Angel Demapan told reporters yesterday.

“The lt. governor has not resigned.”

Lt. Governor Inos presided over a cabinet meeting around 9 a.m. but it ended after a few minutes. The department heads, including DPS Commissioner Santiago F. Tudela, hastily left the governor’s building and one of them supposedly muttered, “Inos resigned.”

The word quickly spread on Capital Hill with people assuming that it was the lt. governor who had resigned and that he and the governor had a fight.

“There was no argument this morning. The governor checked in at [the airport at] 4 a.m. There’s no way [Fitial and Inos] would have met here,” said Demapan.

The governor left for Boston, Massachusetts.

He signed a memorandum dated July 6 reinstating Ogumoro.

Tudela relieved Ogumoro in May, saying his decision was prompted by reports that his deputy  was micromanaging DPS personnel and demeaning officers by shouting at them, among other things.

But Ogumoro said only the governor can remove him because Fitial was the one who appointed him.

Demapan said there is no change in the leadership of DPS despite Ogumoro’s reinstatement.

He said there is no conflict between Fitial and Inos.
