KOROR (Palau Horizon) – A man was arrested and detained at the Division of Correction for boxing a policeman for arresting him at the Koror Side Bridge on Friday.
The suspect was identified as Gregory Meyar, 24, male-Palauan. While the victim was Police officer Ronny Ngiracheriang.
According to the report, at around 6:50 p.m. on July 2, police received a call from the Koror Side Bridge that the suspect along with other male Palauans drinking beers and noisy while their car radio was in a loud sound.
Police officers immediately responded at the area and arrested the suspects. While they were putting inside the patrol car, Meyar arguing with the policemen for taking them. Officers told them that they were drinking in the public place and bothering other people swimming and fishing in the area.
The suspect then, saw Ngiracherian. He argued with him and suddenly punched the policeman on his left chin causing to be swollen.
The police arrested the suspect and brought to the office. He was charged of drunk and disorderly and assault and battery.
The case is still under police investigation.
Meanwhile, another man was arrested for being intoxicated and assaulted his girlfriend in Ngerbeched hamlet, Koror State.
The suspect was identified as Alderio Santos, 32-years-old Palauan.
According to the report at around 8: 53 a.m. on Sunday, the suspect was drunk and physically assaulted his girlfriend who was identified as Petra Tkel.
Police arrested the suspect and detained. He was cited and released afterwards.
A case of assault and battery and disturbing the peace are now being charged against the suspect.
