Karidat youth development coordinator Calvani Deleon Guerrero said the deadline was supposed to be July 9 but they want to give a chance to others who failed to make it due to the short notice.
“Despite the short notice, we still had a good turnout of students but we welcome more kids to come and join any of our classes,” he said.
Yesterday was the first day of classes.
The 2010 Summer Youth Programs are designed to provide children six to 17 years old activities that will keep them occupied during their summer vacation.
Deleon Guerrero said there is something for everybody to be busy with.
The activities include canoeing, basketball, bowling, swimming, volleyball and softball.
Swimming class participants will be given American Red Cross certificates.
Other classes will be conducted at the House of Manhoben Youth Center: bead making, arts and crafts, dance, ukulele playing, and the Motherread program.
“We encourage the youth to register and join us in any of the classes to get busy, learn and be entertained for the summer,” Deleon Guerrero said.
Registration fee is $10 per activity.
