DPS reports 2nd quarter success vs ‘ice,’ marijuana

He said 24 arrests were made and some of the evidence recovered during the investigation, which yielded a .38 caliber revolver handgun.

Of the arrests made, five were marijuana-related and 19 were “ice” defendants, Tarkong said.

Some of these cases are still pending in the judicial process, he added.

Tarkong said Ambrosio T. Ogumoro, the acting DPS commissioner, was “pleased to announce the accomplishments of the CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force these past few months.”

“This is the result of hard work of the task force members which include jungle reconnaissance, informants, and tips from the Crime Stoppers Hotline,” Tarkong said.

The task force is a joint effort of DPS and CNMI Customs Division investigators.

Anyone having information about a crime may call the department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau at 664-9042 or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272. You may also visit the website at www.nmicrimestoppers.com.

All calls remain anonymous and a reward of up to $1,000 will be paid to the informant if an arrest is made, Tarkong said.
