As the goal of the National Development of Palau states “To allow for the highest level of competition for our National Teams leading toward regional competition (such as the Micronesian Games) that involves the best players from within Palau and where possible international teams,” the competition this coming week will give another opportunity for selected players for Team Palau to improve more on their skills and understanding of the game in time for regional basketball challenge.
For the men’s tournament there will be three teams namely Team Palau, Filipino Basketball League – All Stars, and the Biblical Ministries of Palau – All Stars. Team Palau is composed of Michael Williams, Robert Ngual, Perry Oiterong, Roydan Renguul, Jason Seid, Yutaka Gibbons Jr, Obak Mad,Kent Moore, Gino Smau, Sunshine Soalablai,Arnold Undecimo, Raymond Watson, and will be head coached by Johnny Kintaro and assisted by Yutaka Gibbons Jr. The Filipino All Stars are represented by, Erwin Senadre, Joeger Supnet, Dennis Castro, Nikko Hinosa, Bong Alambra, Jun Bautista, Eric Basco, Emerson Patena, Philip Maniago, Raul Osias, Jomar Naguit, Jay Naguit, HEAD COACHES: Jimmy Domingo and Peter Magbanua, ASSISTANT COACHES: Albert Morfe, Jun Aclan. For the women’s Super League, there will also be three teams competing for the basketball games, which are the Team Palau Women, and two youth squads that are mixed with boys and girls namely Youth Squad – Blue Team and Youth Squad – Yellow Team.
