Yesterday, WSR teachers and students held a cooking demonstration to broaden the children’s interest in culinary art, she added.
Last year, chefs from the Pacific Islands Club conducted a demonstration.
This time, teachers and counselors took the lead with the help of the students, Flores said.
“It’s also a team building and learning activity between teachers and students,” she added.
Yesterday, they prepared pasta and bruschetta in the school cafeteria at 8 a.m.
School principal Lynette Villagomez said the dishes prepared by teachers and students were “very healthy.”
Teachers Anthony Taylor, Victor Cabrera and Phyllis Ain were the main chefs during the cooking demonstration.
They were assisted by sixth grade teachers Melissa Dickenson, Jude Loste and Claire Barcinas.
Flores and counselor Kin A. Conception were the coordinators of the event, which was also supported by vice principal Naomi Nishimura.
Nikki Yutuc, a sixth grader, said she was very excited about the cooking demonstration.
She said students were assigned to five different stations to assist in the preparation of ingredients.
“I like to pursue a career in culinary art,” she said.
