Former N. Islands resident complains about mayor’s ‘inaction’

“Why is the mayor  concentrating working with Fish and Wildlife?” said the former resident, who declined to be identified.

Since Alamagan was evacuated by eight of its 12 residents last year because of a typhoon, the mayor has not done anything to resettle them, he said.

The water tank on the island, he added, is gradually deteriorating.

If no one goes there  the facility will eventually fall apart, he said.

“He has not accomplished any project,” the former resident added, referring to Aldan, who became mayor after a special election last March.

The Northern Islands mayor’s office declined to comment.

However, in an earlier interview, Mayor Tobias DLC. Aldan said he already asked the Department of Public Lands to expedite his constituents’  homestead applications.

Neither the former resident nor the mayor mentioned where the cash-strapped government will get the money needed for their requests.
