The 64-year-old governor said he also underwent extensive medical examination using the latest medical machine known as BioZ.
“The equipment they used on me is called BioZ. That’s the equipment that astronauts bring to space because they don’t have a cardiologist and that equipment does all the work that a cardiologist does,” he told reporters during a break at the opening of the three-day 13th Micronesian Chief Executives’ Summit at the Fiesta Resort & Spa.
He said he underwent colonoscopy — a medical procedure wherein the colon is closely examined through the insertion of a tubular fiber optic camera in the body.
He also underwent endoscopy, another medical procedure where an endoscope is used to see the interior of one’s intestinal organs.
The governor underwent a series of spinal surgery in the U.S. in late 2006 and early 2007 to correct the narrowing of the spinal canal in his back, a condition medically known as spinal stenosis which is common among the elderly.
The governor continues to have massage therapy at least once a week to keep his spinal cells well-conditioned.
