AG rejects casino-type games at Liberation activity center

Attorney General Edward T. Buckingham said the request of the committee “remains unsupported and cannot sustain an application for this year at this time.”

Liberation Day Committee chairman Jonas M. Barcinas told the AGO that they were previously allowed to conduct gambling.

Both the AGO and the committee earlier reached an agreement that the  committee would submit financial statements to the AG concerning the claimed previous year permitted gambling activities.

In his letter on June 18, Buckingham acknowledged receiving the supplemental information submitted by the committee.

It was a report of the activities of the 2009 committee, he added.

But the submission “contains no information concerning permitted gambling activities,” Buckingham said.

The AGO and the committee also agreed that future Liberation Day committees can submit applications before the intended dates of operation.

This year, the committee was able to acquire a permit to operate bingo at the Liberation activity center.

The committee said on Saturday, the events will start at 12 noon and end at 12 midnight while on Sunday, June 27, the activity center will be open from 12 noon to 11 p.m.

On July 3, Saturday, the events will start at 12 noon and end at 12 midnight. They will be held the whole day on Sunday, July 4.
