Senate to hold special session tomorrow

The Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Governmental Investigations has endorsed the confirmation of Isidro K. Seman as director of the Office of Personnel Management and Ignacio Dlg. Demapan as resident executive director for the Indigenous Affairs Office.

Also on the agenda are several bills, including the measure allowing the CNMI Scholarship Office and the municipal council’s scholarship program to receive educational tax credit.

On Thursday, the Senate’s Fiscal Affairs Committee will begin its series of hearings on the budget.

The House of Representatives held a special session on Friday, but only resolutions were adopted.

The Senate’s version of House Bill 17-45, or the Pay Reduction Act of 2010, which deleted the paycut provision in favor of three unpaid legal holidays and tax rate increases, remains pending in the House.
