THE CNMI government will receive $8.1 million for capital improvement projects from the U.S. Department of the Interior.
In his letter to Gov. Arnold I. Palacios last week, Interior’s newly appointed Insular and International Affairs Deputy Assistant Secretary Angel A. Demapan said he was pleased to award the CNMI government $8,198,667 in fiscal year 2025 CIP funding for the following priority projects:
1) $3 million for law enforcement operational costs;
2) $2.2 million for the Route 33 Beach Road Improvement project;
3) $865,984 for the West San Jose Waterline project on Tinian;
4) $815,772 for the CIP program administration;
5) $715,984 for the Chamorro Village tourism infrastructure project on Rota;
6) $450,927 for infrastructure maintenance; and
7) $150,000 in supplemental funding for the Rota municipal renovations and improvement projects.
Demapan, a former CNMI House member, said the grant awards will be transmitted electronically to the Office of the Governor.
