The Aces improved to a 3-2 record last week while team IT&E-Konflikt topped the standings with seven wins and no losses.
Lerio Pagarao’s high flying layups didn’t have an effect on Friday despite leading FGC’s rally on 27 points.
The Aces surged to a 21-16 lead in the first quarter and kept FGC at bay on five turnovers before dominating on a 25-point run by halftime. Top scorer Freddie Pelisamen had no problems getting near the basket, landing back-to-back shots between Kae Bernardo and Edwin Santos. He mustered nine of the Ol’ Aces’ 23 points in the third period and garnered 12 more for a 34 total.
Tony Diaz scored 23 points while Peter Camacho earned 12 and Zack Diaz piled seven.
Bernardo, Pagarao, and Zack Babauta threatened the Aces after leaving them scoreless 3:14 into the third quarter. Babauta’s triple placed FGC three points behind.
A few seconds later, Pelisamen and Tony Diaz replied with two three-pointers and poured in 11 points.
FGC’s returned to a 10-point deficit with Pagarao failing against Pelisamen’s reverse layup.
The Ol’ Aces found time to cool off after pulling away, 83-74 seven minutes in the final quarter.
FGC outscored the Aces, 21-22 in the fourth period but couldn’t recover a nine-point loss.
