Lauron made up for an empty third quarter and poured in eight of the team’s last 23 points while 8-Division fell behind on a lackluster second half offense.
MDX remains the only unbeaten team this season. Wushin Express ranks second in the standings with 5-1.
8-Division tripped on a five-point deficit in the first quarter and found no improvements 10 minutes later. Lead gunner Leo Factor eked out only seven points in the first half while Cris Lansang tallied eight and Kae Bernardo added four.
MDX fell short on a 10-12 run in the third period, with Mike Palacios picking up most of the slack with six points.
8-Division couldn’t capitalize on Leo Factor’s layups and ended losing possession twice from Zack Babauta.
Lauron went on a brief shooting spree and shot his last basket after Zack Diaz’s offensive rebound to grab a 10-point lead.
Dexter Tenorio cut past Cris Lansang for an open layup, Palacios fired a triple, and Babauta went 1-for-2 on last-minute free throws to secure the match.
Palacios totaled 13 points, Babauta piled 10, and Diaz garnered eight.
8-Division’s double digit scorers slowly collapsed after two misses from Bernardo and Factor’s failed jumper in the final minute. The loss dropped them to a 2-5 record.
8-Division rests in the league’s bottom four with the Saipan Boys (1-4), Pacific Postal (0-4), and FGC Builders (0-5).
