John Camacho convicted of obstruction of justice

Wiseman presided over Camacho’s bench trial yesterday afternoon.

The judge scheduled Camacho’s sentencing for Feb. 7, 2012.

Assistant Attorney General Russel Lorfing prosecuted the case.

The government witnesses were Detective Peter Aldan, AG’s Office victim advocate Blumel Ada, and the victim.

Attorney Joaquin Torres represented Camacho, who testified in the trial.

Camacho was charged after he contacted his wife, who would testify prior to a jury trial on May 2, 2011 in a separate domestic violence case, despite a court order.

In that trial, jurors exonerated Camacho from three counts of child abuse, but Wiseman convicted him of assault and battery of his wife.

Wiseman also placed on advisement the three counts of disturbing the peace against the defendant.

Camacho, who is on post-trial release, has yet to be sentenced for this conviction.
