Naraja sentences repeat offender

Naraja originally sentenced Dela Cruz to one year imprisonment, all suspended except for nine months with credit for time already served for stealing a bushcutter.

Naraja imposed  an additional three months’ jail term for violation of probation that will run consecutively to the sentence for the theft case.

Dela Cruz will be placed on three years’ probation after his release from prison.

He will pay a $100 fine, a $100 court fee, a $300 probation fee, and an estimated $300 in restitution.

He will complete 100 hours of community work service and  complete any recommended course of counseling at the Community Guidance Center.

Dela Cruz will not have any contact with his victim during his probationary period.

On Dec. 30, 2010, police said Dela Cruz took the bushcutter of a Kagman resident.

Dela Cruz was arrested on New Year’s Day.

On July 6, 2005, Dela Cruz pleaded guilty to theft and was sentenced to three years imprisonment, all suspended except for 43 days with credit for time served.

Dela Cruz was placed on three years’ supervised probation and was asked to write a letter of apology to his victims: DFS Galleria and Joeten Enterprises.

On Oct. 21, 2003, the court sentenced Dela Cruz — who admitted receiving stolen property (a dog), to one year incarceration —  all suspended for time already served. He was placed on one year supervised probation.

On Feb. 20, 2003, Dela Cruz pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful taking in a separate case. Court documents did not mention what Dela Cruz stole in this case.

The court sentenced him to two years  imprisonment, all suspended except for seven days with credit for the seven days he had already served.

He was placed on two years’ supervised probation.
