If Mayor Donald G. Flores decides to maintain 48 FTEs, he has to reprogram the funds for operations, according to his fiscal and budget officer Terry Camacho.
Under the budget law, she said the mayor’s office is allowed to use non-personnel funds for personnel.
She said if the mayor decides to have 38 FTEs only, “we have to live within our means.”
She said the budget gives the mayor’s office $756,088 for 48 FTEs who will work for 64 hours per pay period.
According to Camacho, for fiscal year 2011 they had $248,240 for operations.
But early this year, this amount was reduced to $229,423 or by 7.58 percent, she said.
The FY 2012 budget gives the mayor’s office $323,499 for operations or an increase of $94,076.
“We have to work with this figure,” Camacho said, adding that they will need to “improvise” in order to “survive.”
For FY 2012, the mayor’s office gets $756,088 for 48 FTEs and $323,499 for operations — a total of $1,079,587.
The mayor earlier requested $1,245,024 for 48 FTE’s and $352,055 for operations, for a total of $1,597,079.
