Fund Administrator Richard Villagomez explained, “As a result of [Public Law] 17-51 service providers including board counsels have indicated they were terminating their services and they were winding down whatever is in court now.”
He said the legal counsels have significant work load.
According to Fund legal counsel Christopher Timmons, “Either we need the budget itself to be amended or we need the governor to reprogram the portion of the budget to increase the personnel expense.”
The hiring of two additional legal counsels was approved by the board.
Legal counsels Viola Alepuyo and Braddock Huesman had expressed intent to terminate their contracts with the Fund.
Based on records, Alepuyo’s contract ends on Dec. 31, 2012, but either party may cancel contract with 28-day notice.
Huesman’s contract also ends at the end of 2012 with a similar 28-notice provision.
