Flores says CUC allows his office to draw water for free

He said the mayor’s office has an arrangement with CUC in providing water to members of the community whom the utility corporation cannot serve.

Last year, CUC designated the fire hydrants on Capital Hill as  sources of water for the mayor’s office.

Flores said they were not charged by CUC.

“We haven’t discussed about fees,” he added.

He said they will always collaborate with CUC, particularly during a power outage, in delivering water to areas that have no water or low water supply.

CUC is addressing the unauthorized use of fire hydrants by some agencies of the government.

CUC and the Department of Public Safety’s fire division have forged a partnership to stop the unauthorized use of fire hydrants and ensure their maintenance.

Besides the mayor’s office, the Division of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Public Works have also been drawing water from the fire hydrants.
