Rota power will be more stable than Saipan, says Malae

Malae was on Rota last week to supervise the commissioning of the two Cummins engines that will replace the old power engines.

The new engines were delivered last month and CUC personnel have started setting up the cable, he said.

As soon as the station transformers arrive next month, the engines will be  operational, he added.

Malae said CUC on Rota also cleared overgrown vegetation that had caused unscheduled power outages.

While there, Malae said they also addressed the issue about secondary containment. The Environmental Protection Agency has noted that transformers at the Rota power plant were being stored with no secondary containment. Malae said the secondary containments are now operating property.
