CUC, EPA to discuss reorganization plan

CUC submitted a revised reorganization plan to EPA  on May 9, 2011.

On Aug. 17, EPA suggested to CUC a conference call and follow-up meetings while EPA program engineers visit Saipan this month.

In a report to the U.S. District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands, CUC general counsel Deborah Fisher submitted the utility agency’s response to EPA’s concerns regarding the reorganization plan.

CUC, she said, has many follow-up questions and remarks to offer as it continues to work through the organizational issues.

“CUC remains anxious to set up a conference call to better understand EPA’s comments and requested EPA provide a time that works best for them,” she added.

Fisher said CUC has requested approval to have Cmdr. Ken Esplin of the U.S. Public Health Service in the conference call as he has worked extensively on the plan.

EPA also wants to include in the conference call a discussion regarding the revised interim financial plan submitted by CUC on June 24.

As reported in CUC’s quarterly report on April 28, 2011, CUC was challenged to meet the new target and formally notified the District Court and EPA that additional time was needed to submit the revised interim financial plan.

CUC submitted the interim financial management and financial reserves plan on June 22.
