MVA holds general meeting on Oct. 11, welcomes new members

Membership is $100 annually and includes detailed visitor statistics each month; opportunities to join promotional events targeting Japan, Korea, and other markets; the monthly MVA newsletter Tourism Insights; and the opportunity to promote their services on the existing Japanese- and Korean-language websites, as well as the new English website scheduled to launch this month.

“Members have the opportunity for more active involvement and collaboration with the MVA in support of the Northern Marianas’ sole economic driver.

At the same time, they receive industry information that can help their business’ bottom line,” said MVA community projects and membership manager Martin Duenas. “We are pleased to make benefits and statistical information available to our members, such as the opportunity to join the MVA in travel trade and consumer shows.”

MVA members receive a number of benefits:

• Capture visitors’ attention. List your business on the MVA language-specific websites in

Japanese and Korea, and the soon-to-be launched new English website.

• Advertise your company. Display your brochures at MVA office in Saipan, Tinian, Rota, Japan, and Korea.

• Gain international exposure. Participate in or have your brochures or product donations distributed at travel and trade shows, sales seminars, and media or travel agent familiarization tours.

• Get current, detailed information on visitors. Receive the MVA’s monthly visitor arrival statistics reports, including visitor profiles by country.

• Keep abreast of the latest industry news, programs, and updates. Receive the MVA’s monthly e-newsletter.

• Choose tourism-decision makers. Nominate and vote for members of the MVA Board of Directors.

• Help build the tourism. Serve on the MVA’s Ad Hoc Committees focusing on Japan, Korea, China, Russia, and Destination Enhancement.

• See the big picture. Receive a copy of the MVA Annual Report.

MVA will hold a general membership meeting for new and returning members on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Hibiscus Hall of the Fiesta Resort & Spa. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The guest speakers will be Mufi Hannemann, former mayor of Honolulu, speaking on “Building a Stronger Tourism Community.” Lynn Knight of Management Analysis Inc. will also provide an update on the new Northern Mariana Islands Tourism Development Plan scheduled for completion this year.

The meeting cost is $20/person for MVA members and $25/person for non-members.

The cost includes lunch, as well. RSVP is requested by Friday, Oct. 7.
