Lawmakers held public hearings in villages to hear the people’s concerns and too much money has already been spent on this issue.
Now I read in the news that lawmakers want students of Northern Marianas College to conduct a referendum. If they like it that way then why they won’t they wait for next year’s election so people can vote on the casino?
Someone said that if our lawmakers don’t know what to do then they should step down and give others a chance to lead.
For me a Saipan casino will be a big help for our economy, and I would like to ask our lawmakers who are against the bill: where could they get the additional revenue the government needs?
As for the casino investors, rather than build a hotel why not build a big mall plus a greyhound dog race track because it will attract more tourists to come to the island.
I’d like to share my experience on Guam where I used to live. I never missed going to the greyhound track. I also saw tourists really enjoying the race. I once saw seven buses bringing tourists to the track.
If they approve this casino plus develop the abandoned La Fiesta Mall then our economy will improve again.
