Yesterday, the clerk of court of the Superior Court summoned Joanna C. Pai to appear for a court hearing on Nov. 14, 2011 regarding the complaint filed by the AGO.
Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal filed the complaint, stating Mrs. Pai “unlawfully commits the offense of theft of utility services where the theft accrued to her benefit where the value of the theft of utility services exceeds $50.”
If Mrs. Pai does not appear in court, an application may be made for the issuance of a warrant for her arrest, according to the penal summons.
Other details of the case were not immediately available.
Variety was told that Commonwealth Utilities Corp. personnel discovered that utility wires were not passing through the power meter being used by, or registered under the name of, Mrs. Pai.
Variety contacted Mrs. Pai last night at her office at Chong’s Corp. in Middle Road, but failed to get a comment.
