Cepeda tops 8-ball tourney

Cepeda outclassed the field to top the winner’s bracket, handing Masayas his first loss in the double elimination tournament.

Masayas moved past Taylor Watanabe to come out of the loser’s bracket but fell short in the rematch. Watanabe took a tough match from Patrick Taitano and had to settle for third place for the second week in a row.

Victor Hocog won the inaugural 19th Hole tournament, with Edward Suzuki in second and Watanabe in third.

Tournaments follow BCA rules and are played in a double elimination format. Sign-up starts at 4 p.m. and entry fee is $5. First, second, and third place winners take home a trophy, with first and second splitting the pot.

Games are held at 19th Hole, located in Lower Navy Hill. From Garapan, it is just before the Bank of Hawaii traffic light, past Grand Market and before Jane’s Barbecue.
