DCCA backs affordable insurance

Faisao in an email to Variety said he submitted his favorable comment to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sabelius on Thursday last week, as he concurs with the “much-awaited” rules.

The regulation, he said will not only provide fair, affordable, transparency and empowerment to consumers and small businesses but will also “spur” economic growth in the CNMI.

But most importantly, he said it gives an opportunity for the low-income community members to get affordable health insurance.

Faisao said  regardless of other people’s opinion about the federal healthcare reform, the affordable insurance exchanges are a good idea.

“They provide transparency and empower individual consumers and small businesses with the bargaining clout now enjoyed mostly by larger employers,” Faisao said.
