Saipan Rotary Club inducts returning member

Club vice president Pete Schilling who recommended Eli Buenaventura back to the club membership led the induction rites.

Buenaventura said he left the club for four years when his eldest son went to college.

Now that his son  has completed his studies in Hawaii, Buenaventura has more time now to contribute to the club’s community services.

“Community involvement is not alien to me. It’s time to give something back to the community again,” Buenaventura said.

Buenaventura works for Calvo’s Insurance. He has three children, plays golf and tennis.  He writes a tennis column for the Variety’s sports section.

He is a past president of Filtaga Golfers Association and the Northern Marianas Tennis Association. He is also former master of Emon Lodge No. 179, which was originally from Kwajalein before moving to Saipan in the early 1990s when the United States downsized its military operations worldwide.

“Our fraternity runs the Shriner Hospital in Hawaii that has been helping crippled, burned and injured children for free in the Pacific for many years,” Buenaventura said.

“I am happy to join the Rotary Club’s various programs. This is my objective in rejoining the club.”
