CNMI Salvation Army ministry leader Wayne Gillespie said he was pleased with the large turnout of people from various ethnicities.
“We will be serving people until all the food runs out,” he added.
The Salvation Army prepared and carved 10 extra-large turkeys weighing from 20 to 25 lbs each, seven large hams, 10 pumpkin pies, and other dishes and desserts.
Those who helped serve the food included regular volunteers of the Salvation Army, members of the Rotary Club of Saipan, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and other individuals who wanted to help.
“The food is very delicious, and we thank the Salvation Army for feeding us turkey and ham,” a little girl told the Variety.
Gillespie thanked the community and the generous individuals who donated cash, turkeys, and hams for the Thanksgiving dinner.
Done for the first time here, Gillespie said it was a big success.
“This has been a regular practice for the Salvation Army in other parts of the world but our first time here in the CNMI,” he said.
