This is the case of at least eight immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, according to Rabby Syed, United Workers Movement president.
Syed said the immediate relatives who are currently waiting for the approval of their green card applications have only until Nov. 27 to report for work.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services have assured them that they will not be out of status since their applications are already being processed, he added.
But he said the employers of the eight IR’s will no longer allow them to work unless they obtain work authorization from USCIS.
“These people were not able to apply for green cards because of financial problems,” Syed added.
They have borrowed money to pay for the application fees and will face more problems if they lose their jobs, he said.
Syed said they are requesting USCIS to look into the case of these IR’s.
“I hope USCIS can come up with a work authorization so these IR’s can continue to work and support their families,” he added.
