Inos: Government still meeting revenue projection

A supplemental budget is unlikely but he does not see reductions either.

So far, he said, “we’re doing okay.”

The new budget, or Public Law 17-55, allots $102 million for the government in FY 2012 but some lawmakers believe this amount will go down as more businesses shut down.

“I think we have not gotten into the point where we need to make adjustments,” Inos said.

“We came up with a workable budget and we are satisfied,” he added.

He said the government must continue “to live within its means.”

He added, “When we did the budget we tried to be conservative and we were glad to see that the Legislature, in the passage of the budget, reflected that approach.”

He admitted, however, that he is also “praying that there would not be any shortfall.”

Inos said he appreciates that executive branch employees are trying to cope with the austerity measures.

They would like to have more funds, Inos said, but the administration has made it very clear to all department heads, “that $102 million is all we have.”
