Senate, House sessions live on Channel 60 soon

Brian Pitt, MCV director of CNMI operations and technical crew members, have started the final phase of the fiber optic installation.

In an interview Pitt said sessions, public hearings and other important legislative events will soon be on air. People can watch them live at their homes.

“There will no more tapes and no more delays. Subscribers will have the capability of watching the House and Senate live, so it’s going to be exciting to  viewers,” said Pitt.

The next thing they will address, he added,  is airing these live sessions on Rota and Tinian.

Senate President Paul A. Manglona, Ind.-Rota, in a separate interview said if people can watch sessions live, “I think they can be more responsive and more informed.”

If a public hearing, for example, is conducted and is broadcast live, people can tune in and provide more feedback to their lawmakers.

“And I think that is the way democracy is set up — to have more people involved in the affairs of their government and that is why we promote and encourage live broadcasts of our sessions,” Manglona said.
