Re-elected were Doug Brennan as president; Vincent Seman, vice president; and Michael S. Johnson, treasurer.
Jolene G. Torres will be the chamber’s new secretary in 2012. Torres is the managing director of Marianas International Travel Agency. She is also an officer of the Society of Human Resource Management and has served in many other community organizations. Torres holds a B.A. in liberal studies from California State University.
Board member Alex Sablan, marketing manager of Saipan Shipping Company has been reelected. Elected as new board members are Velma Ann M. Palacios, manager of engineering and plant technical services at IT&E, and Melvin A. Tenorio of Marianas Pacific Distributors.
Palacios has served as member of different organizations and boards including the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., the Kagman Komunidat Association, Mt. Carmel School, and Brilliant Star School. She has a B.S. in engineering and an MBA from the Hawaii Pacific University.
Tenorio has been a member of the chamber since joining Marpac in 2003 and is also active in several community organizations. Tenorio told the Variety that this is his first time to be a board member of the chamber.
“I’m happy to serve the chamber in another capacity,” he said.
Past chamber president Jim Arenovski conducted the election.
