So this summer, the lead supplier of Certified Angus Beef, Triple J Five Star Wholesale Foods, the islands’ favorite soy sauce, Kikoman, the man‘nge radio station, KKMP 92.1 FM and Marianas Variety are sponsoring the first Queen of the Grill contest to see who will be crowned the best female griller.
Triple J Super Fresh Market, Western Sales & Trading, the exclusive distributor of Asahi Beer, Rota Mineral Water, and Hyatt Regency Saipan also join as sponsors, offering awesome prizes to the first eight teams who register.
“We were looking to offer a creative event for the community to enjoy and what better way to promote some of our favorite products through a barbecue contest — and for the ladies, at that,” Marianas Variety president Laila Y. Boyer said.
“We have limited slots open for eight teams of two to register, so it is a first come, first serve basis. If you love to grill, and think you have a winning recipe, then by all means, join Queen of the Grill,” said Boyer.
Queen of the Grill will be held at the Thursday Night Street Market on Aug. 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There are no required entrance fees, just the willingness to compete. Teams will have to provide a small grill and supplies.
“We will be providing Certified Angus Beef Short Ribs for the contest, as well as a bunch of cool prizes for the participants and winners,” said Triple J Five Star Wholesale manager Jay Santos.
Winners will also be able to take home up to $300 in cash and the bragging rights for the best female griller in the CNMI.
“We would like to extend a special thank you to the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs for their assistance in hosting the first Queen of the Grill at the Thursday Night Street Market. The event is open for the public to come and enjoy, so come and cheer on your favorite teams,” said Boyer.
