PIC turns over $6K Palooza proceeds to Guma Esperansa

Guma Esperansa shelter manager Lauri Ogumoro said PIC’s donation will be a very big help in maintaining the shelter.

“We really appreciate this generous gift, and would like to thank PIC for thinking of us and our needs,” Ogumoro said.

The shelter’s utility bills alone cost $8,000 a month.

Ogumoro said they have done all they could to cut electricity costs like turning off heaters and air-conditioning units but their monthly bill is still high.

The shelter paid $1,500 a month for utilities when it opened 10 years ago, she said.

Currently, the shelter has 13 children and 11 women under its protection.

“We need all the help that we can get to maintain our facilities and help provide for these women and children,” Ogumoro said.

Karidat executive director Angie Deleon Guerrero said  they are very grateful for the donation.

“In these hard times, we need all the help that we can get to assist people who are in need,” Deleon Guerrero said.

Deidre Halstead, PIC resident manager, said they are happy to present the donation to Guma Esperansa.

“Guma Esperansa provides services to those in our community that are vulnerable and require assistance, we are grateful to be able to assist,” Halstead said.
