Delora Bhuiyan, also known as Delora Taman Hossuin, Delora Gang, Delora Meliong Itaman, and Delora Meliong Taman, and Mohammed Shoukat Bhuiyan, were arrested by federal agents last June for submitting fraudulent immigration documents and making false statements.
The defendants denied the charges. Delora was convicted of marriage fraud in Superior Court last year.
They are on pretrial release.
Court-appointed defense attorneys Bruce Berline and Colin Thompson said their clients have recently received additional discovery in this matter, and would need more time to prepare for defense.
Moreover, the lawyers said they have expended substantial time in negotiating a pre-trial disposition, but now require time to fully focus on trial preparation.
The requested continuance was not for the purpose of unnecessary delay, they told the federal court.
The federal government has no objection on the request.
