That morning, fire broke out at a San Antonio barracks and then, hours later, at the defunct Tokyo Tower in nearby Chalan Piao.
On Thursday evening, the former Wonderful Carwash and Sugar Dock Snack across from the cathedral in Chalan Kanoa was damaged by fire at about 8 p.m. that night.
The cluster of San Antonio barracks destroyed by fire was behind BBQ House on Beach Road across from the Pacific Islands Club.
Witnesses believed that the fire was caused by an unattended portable cooker.
It left at least 20 individuals — mostly Thais — homeless.
The second fire broke out at around 11 a.m. at the abandoned barracks behind the former Tokyo Tower night club.
Authorities were trying to locate two or three homeless individuals who had been occupying the structure.
Witnesses said a man was seen at the one-story building hours before the fire broke. The fire was brought under control at about 11:54 a.m.
No one was hurt in these fire incidents.
