Over 200 care packages sent to servicemembers

On Saturday morning, team members and about 80 volunteers of the 4th Operation CNMI Homefront Support under coordinator Geri Willis helped pack food and other  items in boxes.

“The outpouring of support from the community and the donations were amazing,” Willis said.

“The community came together to show our men and women who serve in the military how much they’re loved and missed,” she added.

With each box of goodies was a letter to the servicemembers telling them they are missed.

The American Red Cross team of John Hirsh, Kennedy Benjamin and Le’ah Murphy helped label the boxes which contained canned goods, snack items, cookies, dental supplies, phone cards, letters, cards, drawings from elementary school students, coconut chips, t-shirts, CD’s, magazines, newspapers, and other items from the CNMI.

Willis said that the 4th Operation CNMI Homefront Support team extends its heartfelt thanks to the community and to all the sponsors for all the assistance and the donations they received to help ease the homesickness of the servicemembers especially during the holidays.
