The department’s FMIS project manager and Tyler Technologies representative spoke before members of the Association of Government Accountants during their monthly membership meeting Thursday at the Outrigger Guam Resort, discussing the benefits for GDOE in adopting the new FMIS system.
Designed by Tyler Technologies, the new system, Munis, is a web-based application accessed via the Internet. It also provides real-time data for its users to simultaneously access information.
Adriana Luna, of Tyler Technologies, stated one of the biggest benefits the new Munis system will provide is transparency.
“I think that’s probably one of the biggest obstacles that all the GDOE employees face – transparency,” she said. “There’s a lot of miscommunication between departments because they don’t always have access to the same information. One of the biggest benefits of our system is that we’ll be able to provide the staff the same information.”
According to additional information provided by GDOE, other benefits of the Munis system include enhanced report writing capabilities that will address stakeholder requirements, more efficient workflow processes that decrease throughout time, and sophisticated management internal controls.
