New café opens in Garapan

N@chan had its soft opening on July 22 but it officially opened to the public on Monday.

Restaurant manager Sungnam Lee who used to work as general manager of Heaven Tours said it is not his first time to venture into the food industry. Lee said that one special feature of  N@Chan is that they also want to serve as an information center for tourists.

Lee said they are aware of the economic situation of the island, but he said this should not be a hindrance for economic development.

“The location of N@chan is ideal for a restaurant/café because it is right near the tourist district in Garapan. We also want to give the tourists and the locals a taste of what we have to offer in culinary cuisine,” Lee said.

The homey ambiance of the restaurant gives you several options where to have your meal. Tables for four or more available near the door where you can eat your meals, the counter at the bar where you can sip your beverages and listen to lively music at your leisure, the plush and comfortable sofa sets at another section of the restaurant which is for small group meetings or for just hanging out to unwind, or at the tables outside under the where you can have barbeque, and enjoy the fresh air with you food and drinks.

N@chan serves a fusion of Japanese and local favorites including the N@chan hamburger regular or Big N@chan, bacon cheeseburger, okonomi sauce burger, teriyaki burger, and chili burger, pasta, salad, soup, side menu and tempting desserts like ice cream, banana split, ice cream sundae and peaches jubilee.

N@Chan serves hot or iced coffee like expresso, coffee latte, mocha and cappuccino, tea, fruit smoothies, cocktails, hinro, sochu, beer, wine, whisky, as well as non alcoholic drinks and beverages.

Tomoko Shimizu, a contributor for the N@Chan, a business guide/magazine circulated here and in Japan who also assists in the operations at N@chan urges the community to try out their special $8.50 lunch menu of hamburger steak with various sauces, pork or chicken tempura with different side dishes, and the $7.50 special dinner menu.

N@chan is your perfect hangout to have a leisurely drink with your buddies, surf the net or just relax. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner every day except Tuesday. Only cash is accepted for now but they will be accepting credit cards very soon.
