Children of military urged to send greeting cards to White House

Darlyn S. Babauta, an active  Reservist with the Hawaii National Guard, told the Variety in an email that the invitation extends to children of military persons from the Northern Marianas and from around the globe.

Babauta said the invitation was initiated by first lady Michelle Obama and is open to all children with parents or relatives in the military from around the globe

Babauta said anyone can help get the word out to have more military youths participate.

The cards must be submitted on 5×8” handmade holiday cards with words of appreciation for their    military parents, as well as pictures and drawings.

The White House will display as many of the cards as possible.

Participants are asked to send holiday cards to the following address along with information  about from where they are sending them by Nov. 16, 2011:
