DPS to conduct DUI/Sobriety checkpoints this weekend

Due to the stormy weather, the acting commissioner emphasizes traffic safety. Strong winds and heavy rains will produce obstacles on the roadway. Be alert of falling debris, deep puddles and slippery roads. DPS would like to remind the public to drive safely and use extreme caution when operating vehicles on the highway.

(1) Friday, Aug. 26,, 9:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. – Chalan Pale Arnold Road, Gualo Rai, by Chong’s Refrigeration.

(2) Saturday, Aug. 27, 1 a.m. to 2:15 a.m. – Beach Road, Garapan, by BankPacific.

(3) Saturday, Aug. 27, 10 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. – Monsignor Martinez Road, As Lito, by the Food Stamp Office.

(4) Sunday, Aug. 28, – Monsignor Guerrero Road, Chalan Kiya, by the Waterloo.

Checkpoints conducted will last at least 1 hour 15 minutes at the designated location.

This activity is part of the Department of Public Safety’s effort to deter, detect, and apprehend violators. DPS hopes to ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

All checkpoints are subject to be terminated if it begins to rain. In addition to the checkpoints, officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions and laser activities.
