The club donated 60 reading glasses to the manamko’, Senior Citizens Advisory Council president Teresita Sorroza said yesterday.
“We are very happy that they remember us,” she added.
Sorroza said the senior citizens really need the prescription glasses.
Lion President Paul Madriaga said the donations were handed by Lions Jess Delos Santos, Mario Mayuga, Lourdes Montemayor and Nenette Marquez.
They were joined by Lions Lolit Velasco, Anna De Guzman, Ladyvir Canape and Joe Digno.
“Lions are known for being the ambassador of the blind in the United States,” Madriaga said. “The Saipan Lions would like the community to know that we are here to help individuals with vision problems, especially the children.”
Lion Jess Delos Santos, outgoing president of the Saipan Fil-Am Lions Club, said they are happy to donate reading glasses to the senior citizens.
Madriaga said they plan to hold another health fair on Saipan with their counterparts from Guam.
He said last year’s health fair, a collaboration of the six clubs in the district, was successful.
“The Lion Clubs are global. Whenever a disaster strikes, the Lions are among the first to respond and offer assistance,” he added.
