Culinary students from Kagman High School and Rota High School helped the contestants in peeling and cutting vegetables and meat.

The event was fun-filled and successful, fun and those who attended were already talking about participating in next year’s event.
A big thank you to the major sponsors, the Pacific Islands Club and Triple J Five Star Wholesale, for helping host and organize the event.
Triple J donated Certified Angus Beef, which was the main ingredient for the dishes.
De Ramos won $200, a chef pan stainless steel from Taro Sue store and a Delta Airlines $200 travel voucher.
Placing second was Chef Jin Woo Lee of Saipan World Resort who was assisted by Vincent Maratita, a student of Rota High School.
Lee won $175, a cellphone from Docomo Pacific and a fancy coffee and tea set from Kevin Department store.
Chef Rommel Villaviza of Saipan World Resort, who was assisted by Vannah Hocog of Rota High School, placed third.
His prizes included $150, a tool set from Taro Sue and a buffet lunch gift certificate from PIC.
The other contestants were Chuzi Rios of PIC and Benjamin Babauta of the Hyatt Regency Saipan.
Raffle prizes were generously donated by sponsors and included cell phones, lunch buffets, romantic dinner for two, special lunches, hotel packages, body massage and facial spa, cookware, fancy umbrella and McDonald’s certificates.
Empty Vessel Ministry would like to extend a special appreciation to organizers Vicky Benavente of PIC and attorney Shelli Neal.
The competition raised funds for the purchase of school supplies and other basic needs, of children from low-income families in the CNMI, Kenya, Bangladesh and the Philippines.
