Magofna arrested for assaulting partner, possession of marijuana

Superior Court Judge David A. Wiseman retained the $1,300 bail order on Magofna.

Wiseman remanded Magofna to the custody of the Department of Corrections after his initial appearance and bail hearing yesterday afternoon.

Magofna is being held on charges of disturbing the peace, assault and battery, and possession of marijuana.

Detective Norman Rasiang said the victim reported the incident to the Department of Public Safety dispatcher on July 15, at about 2:26 a.m.

The incident occurred  at the victim’s house in Kagman III, police said.

Responding officers Paul Murphy and Alexander Sakisat met the victim outside of her residence because Magofna refused to let her in the house.

Police, who said the victim reeked of alcohol,  found a marijuana plant outside the house.

The victim told police that after she arrived home after a Rosary prayer, Magofna became angry at her, grabbed her by the shoulder, and slammed her head down to the picnic table several times.

On the same morning, Magofna was arrested and transported to Corrections for booking.

Magofna  admitted owning the marijuana plant, police said.
