According to Jerold Facey of the Prior Service Trust Fund, Seafix donated materials and manpower to repair a tank at the site.
“I called Mark [Blackburn] and asked him if Seafix could put the turret back on the tank and without hesitation he said ‘yes.’ Next thing I knew it was done,” said Facey.
The turret had been lying on the sidewalk for several months.
Blackburn, Seafix general manager, said he was asked by Facey if they could donate their resources.
In his communication with Facey, Blackburn said “If there isn’t some extensive preservation work done on these things, they’ll be lost in the not too distant future.”
Variety asked Blackburn if this is one of the regular projects they do on island, he said, “This is only one of the many kinds of work and services we provide.”
