Tina San Agustin, certified veterans service representative from Veterans Affairs in Honolulu, Hawaii, is expected to entertain veterans’ questions and assist with claims.
“I’m encouraging our veterans, especially those who were not able to meet her in her previous visit, to come,” said Santos, Ind.-Rota.
San Agustin will be in the CNMI from July 25 to 29 for a veterans outreach on veterans federal benefits.
Rota veterans affairs interim coordinator and mayor’s office adviser Tom Mendiola said the meeting with San Agustin will take place at the WIA office on Rota from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today.
He said San Agustin is expected to address different concerns, including recovery benefits and health services.
“Some of our veterans have difficulty in going to Guam for health services due to the high cost of airfare,” he said.
Mendiola said there are 64 veterans on Rota and some were residing on Guam.
He said San Agustin visited Rota two months ago and will probably follow up on the different cases that the veterans brought up to her.
Since last week, he said they had already intensified the information campaign about the visit of San Agustin through announcements on radio and television, and the distribution of flyers and advertisement at the island’s stores and government offices.
San Agustin is scheduled to visit Tinian on July 26 and 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the municipal council’s office.
On Saipan, she will be at the Military/Veterans Affairs Office on Capitol Hill, Building 1364 on July 28 to 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
