Taiwan’s Eva Airways lands on Guam

The Taiwan-based airline will serve direct flights between Taipei, Taiwan and Guam on a biweekly basis.

Through a partnership with the Guam airport, Guam Visitors Bureau announced the direct flights of EVA Airways, which are seen to increase Guam’s share of the Taiwan market.

According to GVB, EVA Airways flights will depart from Taipei at 10:45 p.m. each Tuesday and Saturday, arriving on Guam at 4:40 a.m. on Wednesday and Sunday, respectively.

Departures from Guam leave at 6:10 a.m. each Wednesday and Sunday, and arrive on Taipei at 8:15 a.m. the same day.

“We’ve been anticipating the arrival of direct flights aboard EVA Airways since early this year,” said GVB General Manager Joann Camacho in a press release. “This market has seen great growth in the past five years, and this will only help continue that trend.”

In a GVB report, preliminary data shows a steady 36.7 percent increase from January through May 2011 in Taiwan arrivals compared to last year.
