Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo’s office said the full details have not yet been released by the Committee, but said she was “concerned and disappointed.”
Some of the cuts will affect the North Ramp Utilities and Finegayan Water Utilities, as well as the Air Force fuel systems maintenance hangar.
Bordallo said the bill must still be considered by the full Senate and reconciled with the House’s version later this year.
“I am concerned and disappointed with the action taken by the Senate Appropriations Committee to cut funding for military construction on Guam directly related to the realignment of Marines from Okinawa to Guam,” said Bordallo in a news release.
“The committee’s action sends the wrong signal to our Japanese allies and is contradictory to commitments made by Secretary Clinton and Secretary Gates during last week’s 2+2 meetings,” she added.
Bordallo said the U.S. must remain committed to the roadmap for implementation.
