FBI, DPS looking for any clues at landfill

Investigators are searching the Marpi landfill for “any clue,” Simon told the Variety.

“The landfill is a big area. We got a definite, specific portion where the garbage was dumped on that day. We got a relatively small defined area for our search,” he added.

The people working at the landfill are “very professional, helpful, and organized,” Simon said as he thanked them.

Simon said combined federal and local authorities started conducting the search at the landfill at 8 a.m. yesterday.

“It’s very difficult to say,” Simon replied, when asked when the search at the landfill would end.

“There’s the factor of fatigue for the searchers. Then there’s the light and the weather,” he added.

Simon said authorities do not want to make the search at the landfill  a press event as he declined to further comment on the ongoing investigation.

Anicia Q. Tomokane, the grand-aunt of the missing girls, told the Variety that they continue holding family prayers at their As Teo residence three times a day.

The FBI has offered a $10,000 reward in addition to the $2,000 offered by Crime Stoppers and IT&E for any information leading to the recovery of the missing school children.

FBI supervisory senior resident agent for Guam and the NMI Steve L. Moore said cash reward will also go to anyone with information leading to the successful prosecution of those responsible for the girls’ disappearance.

If you have any such information, call 911, the FBI at 322-6934, the victims’ family hotline at 285-4048, or Crime Stoppers   at 234-7272.
