Barbo’s free throws end Sonics’ perfect record

Team Sonics managed to take the lead during the first half of the game despite a messy start. Edwin Camacho nailed a three pointer early into the first quarter followed by a pair of jumpers from teammate Pedro Lizama leading the way by 9 points, 24-15.

The Smart Cagers managed to cut the lead short to two points in the next quarter after players Ehroll Peredo and Darwin Barbo each marked four points apiece 40-38.

The second half of the game became messier for the Sonics after losing control of the ball and missing critical jump shots and charity opportunities.

Barbo slipped past the Sonics’ center player cutting through the back door for another four points.

Peredo then nailed a three-pointer from a quick steal followed by a jump shot leaving the Sonics behind, 64-57.

It was all over for the Sonics. Barbo was fouled thrice giving him six shots behind the free-throw line. Barbo took great care with these shots nailing five out of the six putting an end to the Sonics’ untouched record, 73-66.

Weather halts 2nd game

The weather did not permit the second game of the season to finish. During the last two minutes and thirty seconds of the game heavy rained halted the competition.

The league coordinators decided to re-schedule the game another day. June Abedes fouled Edmark Mendoza before the rain started. The game will resume with Ali’i Konflikt in possession of the ball.
