“I shall ask for nothing but the utmost cooperation of each and every member of this organization, and in return, I shall give everything logically possible for the ultimate success of the same,” he said, during the induction of officers in the Taga Hall of the Saipan World Resort.
Malasarte was inducted by Philippine Consul General Medardo G. Macaraig along with the other officers: vice presidents Hector Sevilla, Apollo “Pol” M. Madreiaga, Fernan “Bok” Enano, secretary Joseph “Jun” Liberato, assistant secretary Yollanda Ramos, treasurer Evelyn D. Deazeta, assistant treasurer Lyn Dela Druz, public relation officers Antonio M. Soriano, Charlier Centena, James Galvez and Joel Dupra.
Macaraig urged the newly elected officers and UFO members for their unequivocal dedication, support and unceasing cohesiveness in serving the Filipino community.
He told UFO members and officers that the federalization of local immigration and the struggling economy continue to affect Filipinos on island.
“In the middle of these unfortunate events, Filipino workers have remained resilient and optimistic about the future,” he said.
He said the consulate has embarked on several programs, including livelihood courses, to give Filipino workers alternative courses of action to address their economic concerns.
Olive O. Yana, the outgoing president, said her term was very challenging, noting that many Filipino workers have already left the island.
“Through it all, though, the resiliency of our race, our capability to rise above any difficulty, and most of all, our faith in the Lord God and on each other, helped us through all the odds,” she said.
She said that teamwork and close cooperation of UFO members proved that nothing is impossible.
